Bio
James Okello is a Ugandan trained psychiatrist since 2005 with a special interest in trauma and currently based in Gulu, Uganda. James’s clinical work has focused on providing psychotherapeutic services to children and adolescents within school, community and hospital settings. He has lectured in mental health at Gulu University and holds a position as director Children for Tomorrow clinic in war–torn Northern Uganda and consultant on capacity building projects related to mental health and psychosocial programming that focus on populations affected by trauma including CPAR Uganda, CARE-Uganda, TPO-Uganda, Psychotraumatology Division, Basic Needs Uganda and CCVS. He also serves as a doctoral researcher with Department of Orthopedagogics of UGhent through Centre for Children in Vulnerable Situations. His research focuses on war trauma, attachment and risk behaviour among adolescents in Northern Uganda.
